Welcome to the Rose City Gliders email list. I have created this list to make it easier to inform Segway enthusiasts in the Portland area of news and events of interest to them. Because I will make every effort to keep this list up to date, folks who use this list will be less likely to inadvertently omit a recipient who might be interested. Please let me know if any changes are required to this list.

Anyone on the list can send emails to the Rose City Gliders email list at glidersrosecitygliders.com. In order to reduce the likelihood of unwanted email (spam), email from non-members will not be permitted without my approval.

If you reply to the sender of an email from this list, it will go only to the individual who sent the email. If you reply to all, it will go to everyone on the list.

I have also set up a web site (http://www.rosecitygliders.com) for the group.

This year, the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade (http://www.rosefestival.org/events/grandfloralparade) is scheduled for Saturday, June 9. I am not yet sure whether the Rose City Gliders will be invited to participate in the Parade this year, but let me know if you are interested, so that I can keep an up to date list. It would be great to make this our best parade ever.

The Portland Sunday Parkways (http://www.portlandsundayparkways.org) schedule has not yet been revealed, but I will send out announcements to this list when I have more information. We've had fun in the past when members of the Rose City Gliders have participated in these events.

I recently received an invitation for the Rose City Gliders to enter the Grand Street Parade for the 25th anniversary of the Lacey Spring Fun Fair on Saturday, May 19, in Lacey, Washington. I'm not sure whether there is enough interest to participate, but I wanted to give folks the opportunity to comment before I respond to the invitation.

Last November, Portland Community College invited me to their Alternative Transportation Fair. I brought two Segways, and gave nearly 100 students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to try them. Everyone had a great time, and perhaps we'll see more Segways in the Portland area as a result of this Fair. I believe they will be sponsoring another Fair this Spring.

Finally, I'd like to encourage everyone to invite folks to informal Glides or other events you organize. Even if only a few members show up, it's an opportunity to share a fun event.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
